March 16, 2009

We still have about 12″ of snow on the ground. I only went smelt fishing once this year, now I am getting my worms in good health and drying the castings for spring planting, if it ever comes.

Well back to my stay at the Wentworth Douglas Hospital, Dover N.H. On Monday March 12 2009 I was scheduled to have a test. They put a camera down your throat and look at the back side of your heart to see if there is any damage.  You cant have anything to eat or drink from midnight on. In comes the team at 11:30 and wheel me into the next empty room down the hall. In this room is 6 people, no doctor. they hook me up to oxygen and start the anestia. The head nurse asks me whether this a conversion test or a Zee conversion? She asks me, I told her it said on the board in my room a Zee conversion.  Well she says I cant use this #12 needle for a Zee conversion , I need a # 22.  Why didnt somebody tell her? The nurse had to change my IV. The next question is, is there a crash cart in the room. Everybody looks around for the crash cart. no crash cart to be found. It is decided that there must be one on the second floor, she sends one of the nurses down to borrow the crash cart. She comes back and says it is needed on the second floor, but she says if we need it she can go down and get it. Nothing can be done without this crash cart or should I say nothing should be done without it. Now we proceed with the procedure and in comes the cardiolgist. I ask him if my cardioligst knows any thing about this. His answer was dont worry ill inform him when we are done. That was the last straw for me. I got up and left, I asked them to let him know Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Another point of interest is on my admission slip they had the wrong primary care doctor, i asked that it be changed, sure no problem. Every piece of paper all weekend had the wrong doctors name and on each piece of paper I crossed out the wrong name and wrote in the right one. Guess who got my records when I got out? You guessed it.

i have a couple of more stories but my finger is quite sore after this one, so Ill continue tomorrow.

                          Its Friday the 13th

Well its happened once again. last Friday I was feeling weak and out of breath. So I went to the Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover N.H. I think the exact date was 3/08/2009. While in my room the first night they brought another man in with ashma. He and I caughed most of the night in good harmony, he was getting worse by the minute and around 6 AM outside our room was the nurses station and they were having a meeting with the changing of the shift. There were about 20 people in attendance. The man next to me was ringing his nurses call button for about 10 minutes, with no responce. So I went to the nurses station and told them the man was having severe breathing problems. The answer was they would be in shortly. The coughing and choking are getting worse, I went to the nurses station and told them for the second time that he was in serious trouble. All of a sudden all of the people from the meeting are in our little room. Mass confusion.

One of the first things they said was where is the respirator team. After about 10 minutes of looking for the respirator team, I said did you check the cafeteria? i dont think they liked that remark one bit. The respirator team was never found, then they start frantically looking for a respirator. I told them he had an inhaler in his draw but the hospital told him not to use it. Out came the inhaler and everything calmed dowm. Then the nurses finally came in with the respirator mask and all was good shortly

Well my finger is getting sore again. Come back tomorrow and hear the rest of my story about my stay at the Wentworth Douglas Hospital. It gets better.

Does anybody out there have something they want to say
