  Well it sure is hot up here in Maine, temps in the 90s and very high humidity. Its about time. We probably will get a thunderstorm this afternoon.

 Did you know one red worm or euro nightcrawler can produce 150 to over 200 baby worms in one year. If you have 200 worms now in one year you could 40,00 worms under the right condtions. Some worm farmers sell them for between $20- $30 a pound. that is a great return and you dont even have to work hard. It is a know fact that there are not enough breeders to meet the demand for worms. With people trying to go green and run ther homes and gardens from natural and organic means, worms are a very important part homes, of this system.

 I went to the Raitt farm tractor show this weekend. The food was great, a spaghetti dinner with all of the fixens for $7.00. i went to the auction Friday night and was really surprised at some of the prices, like marbles, pictures, old rusty cans, old tractor parts, cream seperators, etc. I bought three antique fishing rods for a good price I thought. One is a Shakespere Wonder Fly rod that was made in the 60s it is complete with its leather case, Executive 2, another one is an 8 sideded 8′6″ salt water casting rod, the other is a 10′ wooden rod, yes wood.

 I had my weekly yard sale Saturday, this went well. I had one guy come and bought a bunch of lures and said he was out of money and his wife was going to kill him for stopping. Then after lunch here he comes this time with his wife, they bought some more lures, she actually enjoyed herself picking out different lures.

 Well its almost August and we havent seen summer. Maybe it will be a mild winter?

 When you are in doubt, just take a small step.

  Well guess what? Its raining again, this time we are looking at 3″ of the wet stuff. Ive started to gather the wood for the ark.

 Good old president Obama stuck his foot in his mouth this time, by saying the Cambridge police are stupid. Nice going.

 He is giving us a $4500.00 tax credit if we buy certain cars. Do you think he is helping Joe Blow by doing this? He is helping the auto industry again by giving us back our own money. The auto industry will sell more cars at a higher price so you get the tax credit. Another auto bailout. Ford showed a profit of 3 billion dollars do to paying down debt. Yeah your right.

 Well back to my favorite subject, Worms

 Did you know that worms are highly respected in some places. Back in the day when there was Tibet, the monks believed that the worms were the reincarnation of their mothers. The monks would protect them and not let any harm come to them.

 Aristotle considered worms to be the , intestines of the soul, I imagine because of the excellant job they did of aerating and cleaning the soil. It is along the idea of our own intestines cleaning the body. Everything in this life we can learn from. Not just by the fun facts but how they are symbolic and full of meaning in understanding ourselves.

 Worms were considered sacred to Cleopatra. She wouldnt allow farmers in Egypt to remove the worms from the soil.

 It is also known that Charles Darwin investigated worms and spent 39 years of his life doing so. He also regognized the truly amazing function of the worm and its role in history of the world. He also knew that they dont get the recognition they deserve.

 Life isnt fair but it is still good.

 Well its pouring again up here in the state of Maine. The way life should be. The lobster fishermen are selling lobster for $2.25 a pound the lowest price in twenty years. Times are really tough for every body. Our save the country president has said no cost of living raises for the Social Security recipients. Thats a loss for us of about 8%.. he also sending 27000 more troops to Iraq and Afganistan. I thought he was going to have the troops home in 16 months. thats about 600,000 troops to bring home that more than likely will be unemployed. He finally realizes that this country cant afford 600,000 more unemployed people.

 Back in the clinton days Hilliary was going to solve the health care problem and found out how money from hospitals, doctors and drug manufacters she was fighting so she did nothing. another great Clinton trick was that he got rid of so many government employees and reduced the goverment budget. He then rehired these same people as consultants at much more money. By doing this he created more jobs and reduced unemployment. Quite a trick. President Bush inherated this mess.

 Good morning America. The weather started out nice today, up here in Maine, the way life should be.   But its suppose to rain later on and about one inch more rain Saturday. The gardens are pretty much under water and my peppers are a complete disaster. Im going to replace them with some more tomatoes

 I think I deleted some of my blogs today. I was trying to put them all under one category and some how they got deleted.

Well back to worms.  The burrowing that worms do serves more than one purpose. I dont know if the worms realize it or not but as they are burrowing, they are cleaning the waste and leaving behind valuable castings, which is clean nutrient soil. The small burrows they create allow the soil to aerate and make it possible so the ground can store water after rainfalls or spraying. This process creates fresh soil for new plants and vegetables.

 We dont usally see the worms as they prefer to stay just below the surface in your bin or in the earth.But if it gets to hot or cold they will dig deeper in search of more suitable temperatures. Red Worms will find oxygen in air pockets under the surface. If they get to much water in these air pockets they will come to the surface in order to catch a breath.

 Its another wonderful day up here in Maine. The way life should be. But more rain coming tomorrow. The blue fish are in the river I went fishing yesterday in the York River and watched other people catch fish. Im one of those people that you dont want to take fishing with you, if you want to catch fish. I have a nice Wonder Rod by Shakespeare. This is a fly rod with a leather case and it ghas the wonder rod label intact. For more info you can contact me thru this blog.

Yesterday I made a bunch of calls on my stairlift and got mostly answering machines but a couple of real people answered and took the info so they could pass it on to the right party. Ill keep trying, being retired and just raising worms I havent much else to do.

 Well back to favorite subject. WORMS

Did you know that worms have both sexes and dont even need the opposite sex. they have both sexes all rolled into one. this gets even more amazing. Heraphrodite is the word for creatures that carry both sexes in one. Worms are heraphodites. But Im not into that kind of love. I guees Ill leave that to the worms.

 I guess you are wondering how these little creatures get around, with no lega. Well the muscle that runs the whole length of the body pulls them everywhere the want to go. having no legs doesnt stop them from getting where they want to go. tiny little bristles called satae run all along the soft slimy little bodies. The satae gives the worm the traction to burrow through the soil.

Tuesday July 14th

  The weather is beautiful up here in Maine again today.

  All the rain has flooded the gardens and the freshwater has driven the striped bass back into the Atlantic. Ive heard that the blue fish are in the river, the Piscataqua that is.

 Well to update you on my stairlift problem. I only received two replies on all of my emails. One from Acorn Stairlifts, they said to call them and maybe they can help, the other was from senator Collins she said I have to fill out and mail back a release of information form before she can do anything. Todat I will keep working on the phones.

 Well back to the worms. Worms do not have eyes. But are still sensitive to light, fiqure that one out. Worms breath through there skin because they dont have any lungs. Thats pretty amazing to me. Worms also have up to nine hearts, I must admit it takes a lot of love to clean up the mess after us. This is what worms do.

Friday July 12th

Its a beautiful day up here in Maine and for a change its not raining. 12″ of rain since June 1st is a little to much.

 I still havent heard a word from anybody about my stairlift. Its hard to believe that all those emails to all those people that are suppose to help us and not one response. I even found a company that was advertising on my page that sells and installs stair lifts and I notified them that I wanted mine fixed or a new one installed and they never responded.

 So ill email some more people today and if i dont get any resonse by monday Ill start calling on the telephone.

 Once again if you have anything to complain about this is the place to send your complaints.

About 4 years ago I applied for a grant to have a stairlift installed from Alpha One in portland Me 1 800 640 7200. Now the chairlift is broken so after many calls to Alpha One they finally admitted that they couldnt fix the lift because they could no longer get parts. They said to apply for a new grant but money will not be available until August of 2010. I am currently filling out the paperwork. This is no good because if we have a fire my wife will not be able to get out of the house. After reading the paperwork that came with lift, it says that Alpha One owns the lift so they can install it somewhere else or use for spare parts. So I called them and asked them to come and get it. They dont want it. So much for spare parts. Now I have to pay somebody to take it out and dispose of it. I have contacted the following with no results

and tryed to contact Senator Richard Nass and rep Joan Nass neither one of there emails is any good.

Ill keep ytrying right up to President Obama

Im asking for your help also if you call Alpha One and ask them why they arent fixing my stair lift. Thats all Im asking any body is one phone call. Nobody has responded in any way. I thought these people would at least try and help. One call from somebody in there office is not much to ask.
